Gustav

It's deja vu all over again. Same days of the week. Same holiday weekend. Three years later and I'm looking at yet another hurricane barreling towards me. Fortunately, thus far it seems that Gustav is not going to be as disastrous as originally predicted.

For those who care and for those who don't really give a shit but are just curious ... I'm staying. I'm riding this one out.

Wish me luck!

Camel's backs

Once again I was sick to my stomach at the prospect of coming into work this morning. Then Psycho D went off on me, because I wouldn't stop what I was doing to go and do inventory again that very moment, when I had just done it a few minutes prior. She spoke to me in a harsh tone, which of course would be defined as "yelling" if it came from me.

Bank Robbery

The bank where my niece works was robbed today. A gunman entered the bank, went to her teller window, pushed a note at her, showed her his gun, and robbed her. After he left she stepped on the floor alarm and started crying. Poor baby. It just makes me want to strangle that SOB. The bank manager and the cops told her she did everything right ... she did as he demanded, did not do anything to upset him and perhaps set him off.

It just makes me sick that people can't even go out and make a living in safety.

Flowers from the mentally ill

Today Psycho D has been really trying to ingratiate herself with me. She asked me if I'm losing weight, and she even went out and cut some more flowers for me. She asked me if I wanted them, and I said "No Thank you." I go to my office a little later and there they are on my desk. ::sigh:: So, I gave them to DW.

Site building stuff/rants

I keep finding these modules that automatically assign users to a role when they register. Why would you want something like this? Registered users are already automatically assigned to the role of authenticated user. Why would I assign them to a different role? If I need to separate new users from existing ones, wouldn't it make more sense, or at least just as much sense to create a new role for existing users? I just don't see the logic behind this at all

Light after Darkness

Last week was really bad for me. On Monday morning I had what I considered to be a minor disagreement with D over a light bulb. Yes, a light bulb. How can one get into a major disagreement over a light bulb?

Mardi Gras 2008

This is how much of a geek I am ... I spent all of Mardi Gras day organizing files on my computer. Yep. But hey, that's fun for me. A little lonely, sure, but I like doing it. Let's face it, it's not a team sport. This is something that one does alone. And I'm not completely alone. I have Miss Holly to keep me company. Poor baby. I'm not very good company for her when I get into geek mode. Selfish bitch that I am, I'm glad she's here for me, though.

Seven Minutes

Earlier this week a New Orleans police officer was questioning a man who was a rape suspect. Suddenly he reached for her gun. They fought for seven minutes before he got the gun away from her and shot her several times ending her life. She was 24 years old.

Congratulations!

To my sister, Nicole and her husband Trevor on the birth of their son, Thad. He came into the world today, weighing a whopping 11 pounds 4 ounces, and measuring 22 inches long. As the nurse said, "This isn't a newborn, he's a three-month-old."

Baby Thad is the tie breaker. I now have four nephews and three nieces.
